CIAMIS – The 16th World Peace Gong commemoration was held at the Karangkamulyan Site, Ciamis Regency, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The theme was “Togetherness Beats Harmony, Peace Unites Hearts.”
The event, attended by various important figures, including the Peace Gong’s initiator, Retired Inspector General of Police Dr. Drs. H. Anton Charliyan, M.P.K.N., Ciamis Regent Dr. H. Herdiat Sunarya, and Ciamis Police Chief AKBP H. Hidayatullah, S.H., S.I.K., proceeded solemnly.
Regent Herdiat Sunarya stated, “The importance of Galuh’s cultural heritage is reflected in the 10 Galuh Peace Agreements, which have been in existence since 739 AD. The meaning of ‘mupulung rahi’ in these 10 agreements teaches us to have a sense of peace and compassion.
Anarchic and violent actions are not Galuh culture. “Galuh culture is about loving and helping each other,” he emphasized, while inviting all members of the Tatar Galuh community to care for and preserve this heritage.
As a commitment to continuing to preserve these values, the Regent of Ciamis plans to build a Gong Perdamaian Nusantara (National Peace Gong) inscription as a reminder to the entire community, bearing the inscription “Galuh Loves Peace.”
This activity was closed with a sacred procession in the form of ngawasuh Gong (washing the gong), sprinkling, and beating the peace gong led by the Regent of Ciamis.
